And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20
Life-Groups! meet at 7:00 on Wednesday nights and have become one of the ways that we have responded to the Great Commission. It is important to be in fellowship with other members from whom we can learn and challenge one another as we grow in faith. However, that is not the only reason Life-Groups! are important. We also pray for one another. Prayer is essential. It is required if we are to bring the Gospel to the lives desperate to hear of God’s transforming truth. We pray for not only one another but also for our friends and family who have yet to come to faith. Ole Hallesby wrote on this very thing in his book Prayer, in which he said,
“Our prayer for a spiritual awakening will without question be most effective if we take up the work of interceding for certain individuals in particular. We find that most of us who have been converted have had some one praying for us, some one who carried us personally to the throne of God while we were unconverted. It seems to me that no one is so poor as he for whom not a single soul is praying, he who has no one who takes him personally and persistently to God in prayer.
We should enter into this work and become personal and regular interceders for certain definite individuals. Ask the Spirit of prayer to assign to you the individuals for whom you should pray. If every believer would do this, the Spirit would distribute the unconverted in every community among the believing men and women of prayer; and ultimately there would not be a single soul but what some consecrated and faithful believer would be praying for him.“
I owe my faith to my parents and my family who bathed me in prayer for my entire life. It is now our turn to pray for one another and lift up those who might be transformed by the truth of Christ. Please join us as we strive to live life together in obedience to Christ for the Glory of God! We are committed to making disciples by studying God’s Word together and lifting one another up by the power of Prayer.
