Hello Forest Hills Family and Friends!

Greetings to you all in the Name of Christ Jesus, Our Lord! It is Pastor Nancy here with a message of hope and help to share!

We all know these are trying times, but we also know the Lord is with us, so take heart! Even in the midst of crisis, there is reason to give thanks. I am thankful that despite all the uncertainty and fear that surrounds us, the peace of Christ will guard our hearts (Philippians 4:7) as we trust in Him, and the love of Christ is a lasting treasure!

As 2 Corinthians says, “But, we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed…..therefore, we do not lose heart!”

As your pastor, in coordination with your Session, I want to give everyone updates about our faith community. I know this is a long letter, but bear with me and please read all the way through to the end.

The short version of what you need to know right now:

There will be No Sunday worship or any FHPC meetings, groups, or activities at the church at least, through the end of March. Committees will conduct business by email or phone during this time.

However, we will be continuing worship via our website! I will be uploading sermons for putting on the website every Sunday, so everyone can continue to hear the Word proclaimed. If you cannot access the website, call the church office and request a hard copy be sent to you.

Your pastor is here! I am currently still coming into the office and am available by phone or email for needs/concerns and pastoral care. I am working closely with the Session and Deacons to make plans and decisions for continuing our ministries moving forward.

The Deacons are working on whether we can still give out the Lenten baskets since schools are closed. Stay tuned. If we cannot give out the baskets, we will ensure the food goes to folks who need it.

My installation service for March 29, has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

HOLY WEEK/EASTER AND MAY MARKET:

We do not yet know what the situation will be for services during Holy Week and Easter, however, at this time, the deacons have decided to cancel the Palm Sunday breakfast and the Good Friday dinner.

We do not yet know about May Market. Decisions will be made as events unfold.

Please continue to check your email, our website, and/or call the church office if you have questions. Kathy and I are continuing to keep regular office hours.

These are trying times for sure, we are all struggling with fear and grief, but as 1 Thessalonians reminds us, we do not grieve as those who have no hope! Our Lord has courage and strength and reassurance to give, as He said in Matthew, “And Lo, I am with you always!”

Stay strong in the faith!

Be cautious and take precautions.

Prayer for one another.

Trust in the Lord!

Blessings in Christ, the Great Physician!
